The Re-Districting of Toronto MLS
Interactive Map

Re-Districting of Toronto MLSOn July 5, 2011, TREB launched a new District structure which replaced the existing TREB Districts. The goal of the Task Force was to improve the search capabilities within the MLS®, and move from a district mapping system based on a “zone” identified by code numbers to one identified by commonly known names and true geographic areas that are more easily understood by both Members and Consumers.

In place of the old Areas (Central, West, East and North) and Districts (e.g. N01, N02, N03…), the new three tiers of address criteria includes Area (Regions, Counties, Provincial Districts or equivalent), Municipality (City, Town or equivalent) and a new field for Community (Neighbourhood).

In the case of the “City of Toronto,” due to the complexity (sheer number of homes and neighbourhoods), the existing zone districts were retained and slightly realigned to take into account some of the community borders, and the new community names that have been added.

An interactive map which outlines the new Municipalities and Communities for the South-Central part of Ontario is now available from the link above so that you can preview the new designations. The user-activated map layers display the names of the new Areas, Municipalities, Communities, and their respective boundaries.
